The Polish Renaissance
September 17, 2022 at 7:30 pm
Lutheran Church of Honolulu
The Early Music Hawaii Ensemble
Alec Schumacker, director
The Golden Age of early Polish composers was in the 16th and early 17th centuries. Initially focused in the southern city of Krakow, local composers followed the traditions of Roman and Venetian motets and the mass but with a special flavor of the East and often with Polish texts. We feature works by Jarzębski, Pekięl and the greatest of the early 17th century polyphonic masters at the royal chapel in Warsaw, Mikolaj Zieleński.
PLEASE NOTE: Audience members will be required to wear masks.
